3、e that two popular brands, Jinlongyu and Fulinmen, have lead the cooking oil price hikes with average increases of 50 cents per liter.Other everyday consumer products also saw price hikes in March, including agricultural commodities, milk powder and personal care products. Recently, Procter & Gamble

4、 has announced it would increase its product prices by up to 15 percent. Consumers now wonder if the governments inflation control measures are really working.Zhou Wangjun, a senior officer at the State Development and Reform Commission, explains.People complain mostly about the price hikes of veget

5、ables. We have noticed that some edible oil manufacturers have adjusted the prices of their products. We have invited them to study with us and analyze the reasons for the price hikes.Zhou says the price of soy beans has increased by about 13 percent in the international market. Therefore, domestic

6、producers have raised the price of cooking oil because of the pressure of raw material price increases.He adds that China raised fuel prices last month for the second time in a year to reflect price changes on the international crude oil market.China is now highly dependent on the international crud

7、e oil supply. About 56 percent of what is needed domestically is imported from foreign countries. Therefore, people need to understand the price increase. The central government is taking measures such as providing subsidies to low-income families and public service sectors. We are also discussing s

8、hortening the price-adjustment period.The fuel price hike is inevitably pushing up the prices of commodities.
