4、人陶醉的),an aging writer looking back on an ambitious yet simpler time.Another is Annie Dillards Holy the Firm,her poetic 1975 ramble(随笔) about everything and nothing.The third book is Julio Cortzars Save Twilight:Selected Poems,because poetry.And because Cortzar.While I tend to buy a lot of books,thes
5、e three were given to me as gifts,which might add to the meaning I attach to them.But I imagine that,while money is indeed wonderful and necessary,rereading an authors work is the highest currency a reader can pay them.The best books are the ones that open further as time passes.But remember,its you

14、eins studies show unpleasant consequences.Those who were highest in status in high school,as well as those least liked in elementary school,are “most likely to engage(从事) in dangerous and risky behavior.”In one study,Dr. Prinstein examined the two types of popularity in 235 adolescents,scoring the l
15、east liked,the most liked and the highest in status based on student surveys(调查研究)“We found that the least well-liked teens had become more aggressive over time toward their classmates.But so had those who were high in status.It clearly showed that while likability can lead to healthy adjustment,hig
16、h status has just the opposite effect on us.”Dr. Prinstein has also found that the qualities that made the neighbors want you on a play datesharing,kindness,opennesscarry over to later years and make you better able to relate and connect with others.In analyzing his and other research,Dr. Prinstein
