Its citizens are fundamentally prosperous(繁荣的) and the way of life in the major cities and towns is much the same, though many miles divide the

In contrast, the rural communities tend to be slow-moving and conservative. For many years, Australia was said to have “ridden on the sheeps back”, a reference to w

    4、ool being the countrys main money-earner. However, the wool industry is no longer dominant. Much of Australias relatively sound economy is now achieved from natural coal and wheat, and by being the largest diamond producer in the world. Newer industries such as tourism and wine making are also incre

    5、asingly important. Australians are generally friendly and relaxed, with a sense of humor. On the whole, Australia is a society without hierarchies (等级制度), an attitude generally held dating from its prisoner beginnings. Yet, contrary to widespread belief, very few Australians have true prisoner origi

    6、ns. Within only one generation of the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, Australia had become a nation of immigrants. Originally coming almost entirely from the British Isles, today one in three Australians come from elsewhere. Australias liberal post-war immigration policies led to the arrival of

    7、a number of immigrants from war-torn Europe, mostly Greeks, Italians, Poles and Germans. The emphasis has shifted in recent years and today the majority of new immigrants are from Southeast Asia. Today Australia is ablend of nations and although some racism exists, it has generally been a successful

On average, 86% of pupils in 3D classrooms improved in test results, compared to 52% of children using traditional teaching methods. It also found that attention levels rose sharplywith 92% of the class payi

    15、ng attention during 3D lessons compared to 46% in the traditional learning environment. “It grabbed childrens attention and this carried on beyond the 3D episode, it seemed to trigger an interest in learning that maintained through the rest of the lesson, ” said Prof. Anne Bamford, who led the study

    16、. “The level of questioning also increased and teachers reported that the children asking questions were those that wouldnt normally engage in class, ” she told the BBC. Researchers observed a series of biology lessons, in which children learned about the functions of the body. “Children can see how
