Search for related information relevant to a song and make a profile.2. Develop aesthetic ability to appreciate songs.IV. Teaching proceduresStep 1 Introdu

    3、ction T asks Ss to think what a profile is. If they are not sure, T leads Ss to look up the word in the dictionary. T: Do you know what a profile is? A profile refers to a description of somebody or something that gives useful information; the general impression that somebody or something gives to t

    4、he public and the amount of attention they receive; and the edge or outline of something that you see against a background. These are the definitions from Oxford dictionary.【设计意图:学生通过查字典,学会主动学习,理解什么是profile,对概念的准确把握才能让其在制作profile的过程中能够更加了解。】Step 2 Free talk1. T asks Ss to have a mini discussion abou

    5、t the specific type of songs they like.T: Which English song do you like best?2. T introduces the focus of this lesson to the whole class: choosing a song to research. T also invites Ss to answer the following questions:Which song would your group like to research?Why do you choose this song? How to

    6、 research a song? T: You can discuss in your groups and share your discussion in class.【设计意图:通过讨论的方式确定所选的歌曲,帮助学生合作学习。】Step 3 Preparing1. What to focus on T divides the students into groups of 4 and each group discusses the aspects they are going to focus on researching a song. In addition, each grou

    7、p member can try to collect the information from one aspect (including singer/band, background, lyrics, style and meaning).T: Since you have learned the definition of profile, the first thing is to find the description of the song that gives useful information. What should you consider when you rese

    8、arch a song? You can discuss with your partner and search for information about the specific song. Take this song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” as an example.2. How to find informationT gives some tips on finding information for profile about a song.T: But where can we find the information related t

    9、o songs? Here are some tips for you. Information can be found on the Internet or on books.T: When searching for proper information, we should pay attention to checking the accuracy of the information you find, especially on the Internet. Also, we should check the meaning and background of a song to

    10、show the popularity of the song. Generally speaking, information from official sources can be trusted.T: Now you are divided into groups and you have your own research target, different songs with different styles, backgrounds and meanings. Id like you to cooperate with your group members and search

    11、 information through different resources. 【设计意图:从至少五个方面建构歌曲的profile,培养学生搜索和整合信息的能力。在这个过程中,教师要给予必要的引导,帮助学生更好地完成任务。】Step 4 Put the pieces together1. T asks Ss how to make a profile.T: Before making a profile, what should you do?T: First, get your information prepared. List the things you might need: b

    12、asic information including background of the song and a brief introduction to the singer or the band; style, meaning and lyrics. You can take the song Try Everything” in your textbook as an example.T: Second, organize your materials and ideas. Gather things that carry your information about the song

    13、. Think carefully about the layout. T: Third, fill your materials in the profile. You can have your own style of the profile.T: Fourth, decorate your pages with interesting illustrations.2. Ss finish the profile in a group.【设计意图:学生根据之前老师的讲解进行实际操作,达到知识的迁移的目的。在动手的过程中,学生学会了团队合作,且更加了解制作profile的相关知识。教师通过

    14、和学生的互动,让学生参与进来,发挥学生的主观能动性。】Step 5 PresentationSs are invited in front of the class to present their profile. T: OK! Time is up. We are desperate to enjoy other groups works, right? Now lets share our work with the classmates. 【设计意图:学生展示小组成果,锻炼他们的英语语言输出能力和公众表现力。】Step 6 EvaluationT invites Ss to evaluate their peers profiles and give their comments. T: Please evaluate your peers profiles and give your comments. You can also vote on the best profile and give your reasons.【设计意图:教师让学生互批,培养学生主动探究、团队协作的精神,相互促进,共同提高。】V. HomeworkPolish up your profile based on the assessment.
