Over the years he has released more than ten albums. He has played at hundreds of concerts. He has written two autobiographies.
2、He has worked with some of the countrys best musicians and he has even made a film about his life. But despite all of this, most people have never heard of him. Otway released his first record in 1972, but it was the punk movement a few years later that really gave him his big chance. Otway wasnt th
3、e greatest musician but his songs were always fun, and his performances on stage were always entertainingthere was a good chance he would fall off the stage at least once in each show. The punks liked him, and in 1977 he had a small hit when his single Really Free made it to No. 27 the charts in the
4、 UK. Otway really enjoyed his success but unfortunately, no more came. Not one of his records over the next 30 years was a hit. Although he never had much commercial success, Otway had a lot of very loyal fans. When someone asked him what he would like for his 50th birthday, his reply was: “A second
5、 hit.” His fans went out and bought as many copies of the new single Bunsen Burner as they could. And in October 2002, Otway finally saw his wish come true. In the charts that featured international superstars like Will Young and Oasis, Bunsen Burner made it to No. 9.Many high street shops refused t
6、o sell the record, saying that Otway was too old and unattractive for the teenage market. Otway didnt care. He celebrated his success with an appearance on TVs biggest music show Top of the Pops. These days John Otway continues to play his music around the country, and there are always plenty of peo
7、ple who are happy to go and watch him perform. Hes a great example to anyone who loves making music. Arriving at Sutton Bonington, despite bein
11、g nervous I was excited to involve myself in the events organised and make new friends. We were welcomed with lunch and teambuilding activities helping me feel instantly comfortable. The first activity took place in the “ superlab”, an impressive, brandnew laboratory full of modern equipment which w
12、e were able to use in experiments. For people planning to study food science at university it was the perfect introduction, providing continuous tasters of what the course offered. We learnt about sensory analysis and its importance in food manufacturing. Using specialized equipment, we tested the s
13、mell of an Oreo in relation to the taste of it. Interestingly, the taste and smell of food was strengthened when it was put into the liquid, so we repeated the experiment with an Oreo dunked(浸一浸) in milk. That day we also took part in the ice cream tasting, deciding on our favorite product and packa
14、ging, then the Skittles tasting, attempting to establish flavors by looking at their color, then using the limited edition white Skittles and seeing if they were harder. One of my favorite activities was the talk given on insects and their potential role in sustaining an alternative global protein s
15、ource for the future. We were given the chance to try some energy/protein bars made with “Jimminys”, a new product, inspiring us to then create our own product and pitch our idea and brand to the group. And the best part of the three days was the lecture in which a representative from the Food and D
16、rink Federation spoke about the food industry, followed by a formal dinner. I would definitely recommend attending if you are considering it. I am now certain I want to pursue a nutrition course at university and follow a career in this industry. It has been an enriching experience strengthening my
