Even now, my husband and I often talk of our first visit where the cable car up to Mount Srd lay in ruins and we walked up the

It was so hot that I drank and drank, but having reached the top to take in the stunning view of the Elaphiti Islands, I was quick to discover there were no toilets for this western visitor at that time, I think it was the fastest walk down

Preventing, controlling and curing these diseases puts out povertys fire at its base.We know it can be done. Through long-term efforts, several of these NTDs have been stamped out in some
29、countries such as Laos. To wipe out extreme poverty around the world. many countries continue to invest in what is one of the most successful foreign assistance programs. For example, U.S. Agency for International Development programs to combat NTDs have reached nearly 300 million people affected by
30、 diseases that can spoil the patients appearance or weaken the patients physically.For Bushin, the story ends well. Through foreign assistance program, she was able to lave the surgery needed to treat trachoma and save her eyesight. The surgery is relatively simple, performed in an hour at an outpat
31、ient clinic, and costs less than $300. In return, Bushin avoided a lifelong disability that would have recondemned her family to poverty with little hope for escape.Jan. 30 marks the World NTD Day, a day that global public health experts say is needed to focus attention on the fight against tropical

Instead of saying “You look beautiful!” I might say the more specific “Dont you look fancy today!” or “Those colors go so well together.” It means that I treat my daughters not as my little dolls, but as
40、real people who are developing their own sense of self and style. It means that they are in charge of how they look. Naturally, I buy most of my girls clothes. But I dont usually manage their outfit (整套衣服) choices. My daughters can go girly with necklaces, or they can choose to give up dresses altog

They never ask if they look pretty, and they walk with an easy confidence that has nothing to do with what I or anyone else will say about how they look.
