20、rk at that time yesterday.表示过去某一时间段内持续发生的动作。如：They were waiting for you yesterday.常用于含有when/while 引导的时间状语从句的复合句中：when 与表示短暂性动作的动词连用，主句用过去进行时；而while 与表示延续性动作的动词连用，从句用过去进行时。如：We were having supper when the phone rang.The phone rang while she was sleeping.三、过去进行时和一般过去时的区别：过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一时间段内正在发生的动作，强
