There are strong winds in Death Valley but not that strong.Then, in 2006, a scientist named Ralph Lorenz came up with a new theory. He suggested that in the winter, thick ice forms a
13、round the rocks. When the ground begins to thaw (解冻), the rocks, wearing ice, sail along, leaving trails behind them. Lorenz put his theory to the test in his own kitchen. He dropped a rock into a dish, added a little water, and stuck the dish in his fridge. Later, he took out the rock and placed it
