1、高考资源网( ),您身边的高考专家2012届高三英语最后一讲科普文阅读技巧一、考点描述 科普类文章是高考英语的常考题材,每年高考都有所涉及,如2011年的江苏卷在阅读文章中就有一篇是关于科普文章的阅读。因此,同学们在平时的学习中一定要对此高度重视。二、材料特点 这类文章的总体特点是:科技词汇多,句子结构复杂,理论性强,逻辑严谨。具体说来它有以下几个特点: 1、知识性。它普及科学知识,把科学的最新信息常给读者。它常常把握住现实生活中的某一事物或现象,用正确的理论,去进行科学的解释,纠正常识错误,从而使读者了解世界万物变化、运动的规律。2、思想性。它往往以具体细小的事物,阐发一点耐人寻味的哲学道理
2、,给人起启示,发人深省。阅读科普文章,要注意把握好两个层面的目标和要求:一是科学与人文的层面。也可以说是科学的人文性。从科学中吸取智慧与力量,体会求实的科学态度和勇于探索创新的科学精神。另一个是知识和能力的层面。要根据科学小品这一体裁的特点,学会筛选并整合文中有用信息,把握作者的写作思路,重点研习将抽象内容说明得具体生动的技巧。3 文章中词汇的意义比较单一、稳定、简明,不带感情色彩,具有单一性和准确性的特点。4. 句子结构较复杂,语法分析较困难。为了描述一个客观事物,严密地表达自己的思想,作者经常会使用集多种语法现象于一体的长句。 三、命题特点 科普类阅读的主要命题形式有事实细节题、词义猜测题
3、、推理判断题以及主旨概括题等,其中推理判断题居多。 四、应对策略 1. 要想做好科普英语阅读理解题,同学们就要注意平时多读科普知识类文章,学习科普知识,积累常见的科普词汇,从根本上提高科普英语的阅读能力2 要熟悉科普类文章的结构特点(1)文章介绍的主要内容是什么,是一个科学道理,是一项新发现,是最新研究成果?(2)该科学现象或最新发现或最新研究成果是如何发现的?(3)该现象或道理或成果的发现对人们生活已经或即将带来什么影响? 3科普文章阅读的基本要求首先把它作为科技说明文来看待:理清说明顺序。主要有空间、时间、逻辑顺序。逻辑顺序又包含从原因到结果、从主要到次要、从整体到局部、从概括到具体、从总
4、说到分说、从现象到本质、从特点到用途等。在段落中尽量找到表示说明顺序的显著的语言标志。(一)(2011全国卷) For those who study the development of intelligence (智力) in the animal world,self-awareness is an important measurement. An animal that is aware (意识) of itself has a high level of intelligence. Awareness can be tested by studying whether the an
5、imal recognizes itself in the mirror, that is,its own reflected image (反射出的影像). Many animals fail this exercise bitterly, paying very little attention to the reflected image. Only humans, and some intelligent animals like apes and dolphins,have been shown to recognize that the image in the mirror is

In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers report that an Asian elephant has passed the mirror self-reflection test. “We thought that elephants were the next important animal.” said Diana Reiss of the Wildlife Conservat
7、ion Society, an author of the study with Joshua M. Plotnik and Fans B. M. de Wal of Emory University. With their large brains, Reiss said, elephants “seemed like cousins to apes and dolphins” The researchers tested Happy, Maxine and Patty, three elephants at the Bronx Zoo. They put an 8footsquare mi
8、rror on a wall of the animals play area (out of the sight of zoo visitors) and recorded what happened with cameras, including one built in the mirror.The elephants used their long noses to find what was behind it, and to examine parts of their bodies. Of the three, Happy then passed the test, in whi
9、ch a clear mark was painted on one side of her face. She could tell the mark was there by looking in the mirror, and she used the mirror to touch the mark with her long nose. Diana Reiss said, “We knew elephants were intelligent, but now we can talk about their intelligence in a better way.”1What ca

12、dden camera.(二)(2011江苏高考)According to the US government, wind farms off the Pacific coast could produce 900 gigawatts of electricity every year. Unfortunately, the water there is far too deep for even the tallest windmills (see picture) to touch bottom. An experiment under way off the coast of Norwa
13、y, however, could help put them anywhere.The project, called Hywind, is the worlds first largescale deepwater wind turbine (涡轮发电机). Althoughit uses a fairly standard 152ton, 2.3megawatt turbine, Hywind represents totally new technology. The turbine will be fixed 213 feet above the water on a floatin
14、g spar ( see picture), a technology Hywinds creator, the Norwegian company StatoilHydro, has developed recently. The steel spar, which is filled with stones and goes 328 feet below the sea surface, will be tied to the ocean floor by three cables (缆索); these will keep the spar stable and prevent the
15、turbine from moving up and down in the waves. Hywinds stability (稳定性) in the cold and rough sea would prove that even the deepest corners of the ocean are suitable for wind power. If all goes according to plan, the turbine will start producing electricity six miles off the coast of southwestern Norw
16、ay as early as September.To produce electricity on a large scale, a commercial wind farm will have to use bigger turbines than Hywind does, but its difficult enough to balance such a large turbine so high on a floating spar in the middle of the ocean. To make that turbine heavier, the whole spars ce
17、ntre of gravity must be moved much closer to the oceans surface. To do that, the company plans to design a new kind of wind turbine, one whose gearbox (变速箱) sits at sea level rather than behind the blades Hywind is a test run, but the benefits for perfecting floating windfarm technology could be ext
18、remely large. Out at sea, the wind is often stronger and steadier than close to shore, where all existing offshore windmills are planted. Deepsea farms are invisible from land, which helps overcome the windmillaseyesore objection. If the technology catches on, it will open up vast areas of the plane
