A survey taken a few years ago found that 28% families ate dinner together at home seven nights a week. Another quarter said they ate together three or fewer nights a week.O

As dinner time approached, an increasing number of hungry mouths would begin to appear with the question, “Whats for dinner”?_2_ The data seems to point to two main issues: overworked parents and over-schedu

When mum or dad do get home in the evening, they are soon in the car again to send the children to soccer, music, tutoring, and a host of other events.This nightly ceremony around the dinner table is both vital and fruitful; it is what keeps a family together. Sure, the conversation is

    4、 not always significant and children argue. And sometimes the deepest and most meaningful times in a family are not at the table at all. _3_The dinner table is the place where a family builds an identity. Stories are passed down, jokes are exchanged and the wider world is examined through the lens(镜

    5、头) of a familys values. Children pick up vocabulary and a sense of how conversation is structured. _4_ Dinner time is “family time”. Coming back daily to the same place helps gain familiarity.The significance of dinner time is more than above. Studies show that the more families eat together, the le

    6、ss likely the children are to smoke, drink, get depressed, and develop eating disorders, and the more likely they are to do well in school and learn how to socialize. One professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey stated, “A meal is about civilizing children. _5_”So start by planning some stay at

In the late 1700s and early 1800s, buildings on Wall Street and places such as City Hall may have served as smaller

    11、theaters, and other locations in downtown New York City also did.Todays Broadway started when influential families contributed development of larger theaters away from the downtown area. Some people may have doubted these theaters would be successful, but they turned out to be. _3_ With the rise of

    12、the new theater district, downtown changed forever as people happily traveled to the outskirts (郊区) of the city to see the best in live entertainment.When these theaters began, many actors came from European countries. In 1857 actor Edwin Booth helped transform the Broadway theatre by popularizing a

    13、 type of acting realism. Unlike actors before him, Booth did not stand still on the stage and simply deliver his lines. _4_ Booths style had a notable effect on the theater, and many considered him to be the greatest actor of his time._5_ Specifically, comedies and dramas often centred on then-curre

    14、nt events such as womens right to vote, the Labor Movement, and war. Broadway developed again in 1866, and the Broadway musical was created. From then on, actors entertained their audiences by singing and dancing accompanied by an orchestra.Now, Broadway is famous for various theatre productions and

It sent the wrong message about our company.” Many people feel that suits, ties and dresses are superior to casual clothes in creating a posit

    21、ive professional image._4_Some experts think it will go away one day. As long as the trend continues, though, dressing casually can cause a little confusion in the workplace. Business people arent sure what to wear, and many people just put on whatever they feel like in the morning._5_They believe d

    22、ressing down at work is one of the signs that the society is lowering its standards of everything. Czardas and John T. Malloy, author of Dress for Success, say psychological changes occur when people dress up. “There is no question what you wear affects what you do, your performance, and your attitu
