    6、 know that in Canada, they hunt seals every year? They can be hunted legally from the age of two weeks, as soon as their coats, which were white when they are born, turn a darker color. Frankly, I think its so cruel.S2: You are absolutely right. The hunt is completely legal. But Im afraid I dont agr

    7、ee with you. In my opinion, the hunt is a wise decision. And S1: Im sorry to interrupt, but I really cant understand why the country passed such a law to allow hunting cute seals. Its so cruel and unnecessary.S2: Well, do you know that the fishing industry is in decline because there are fewer fish

    8、in the Atlantic?S1: Yes, of course I know that.S2: So the thing is, seal hunting is an important source of income for the people of Quebec and Newfoundland. They can sell the skins and meat for millions of dollars.S1: Im afraid I cant agree. I dont think hunting seals is the only way to solve the pr

    9、oblem. Dont they have other alternatives? Do you think it is justified to kill these poor innocent animals?S2: You have a point, but there is a huge demand for fur if there wasnt, they wouldnt be able to sell the skins.S1: I cant agree more. I strongly believe that people shouldnt wear fur its cruel

    10、.S2: I dont think so. Anyway there are millions of seals in Canada. If people didnt kill them, the population of seals would get out of control.S1: What you said sounds reasonable. However, animal rights groups say that the hunt is unnecessary and the seals are shot or beaten to death. So the protes

    11、ters have been trying to stop the hunt.S2: Im sorry, but I have to mention that the government says that seals are killed in a humane way.S1: I doubt about that. If so, why have there been fights between hunters and protesters? Dont you think it would be better if we stopped the hunt and hence settl

    12、ed down all the problems?S2: Er .T: Isnt wonderful, boys and girls? (The students applauds.) Through listening and speaking, you have known something about Canada. Today we are going to have a close look at one of the cities in Canada and read an extract of a world best- selling novel. Are you inter

    14、ite different from other big Canadian cities because it is one of the most culturally and racially diverse cities in Canada and even the world. It is the symbol of multicultural Canada.S4: The multicultural influence on Vancouver mainly comes from Asia, because it is Canadas gateway to the Pacific R

    15、im, and it is a magnet for visitors and new citizens from all parts of Asia.S5: There are many Chinese people living in Vancouver. For one thing, it is Canadas gateway to the Pacific Rim, so it is very convenient for Chinese people to go there by sea. For another, there has been a Chinese community

    16、in Vancouver for more than 200 years. The Chinatown there is the third biggest in the world.T: I couldnt agree more. Since Vancouver is said to be the symbol of multicultural Canada, from which sides should we observe? Lets move on.Step III Reading1. Skimming T: Now please look through Part 1 of the

    17、 passage and then deal with Activity 2. Pay attention to more than one answer may be correct. The teacher let students read as fast as they can.T: From this activity, Im sure you all have got an idea of who makes up the population of Vancouver, right?2.     22、Sun Yat-sen Chinese Park and Garden behind the CCC. Opened in 1986, this garden was the first full- scale classical Chinese garden ever built outside China.T: Good job.
