18、构为 “want to do sth.” 和 “would like to do sth.”，注意同义句转换时谓语动词时态的变化。 课文原句：He slept badly and didnt feel like eating. =He slept badly and didnt want to eat. =He slept badly and wouldnt like to eat. 此外，feel like 还有“感觉像.”的意思。例如： I feel like I want to cry. 我感觉想哭。5.3.2.2. His face was always pale as chalk.

19、他总是面色苍白。 (as) pale as chalk 是一种明喻修辞结构，虽然英语把苍白比作chalk(白垩，一种白 色石灰岩)，但汉语不可直译，相当于我们说的“惨白；苍白”。例如： You look as pale as chalk today. 20、不起作用。 neither.nor. 意为“（否定的陈述适用于两方面）既不., 也不.”,在句中连接两个并列成分做主语，谓语动词考虑就近原则，即与最近的名词的单复数保持一致。例如： Neither the TV nor the video actually works. 电视机和录像机坏了。 Neither the twins nor their mother has been to the island. 那对双胞胎和他们的妈妈都没去过那个岛。 此外， neither.nor.还可以连接两个并列成分做谓语或是表语。例如： I neither knew nor cared what had h
