    4、attractions and lets people pay for things with a smile.Set against human skills,such applications might develop gradually.Some breakthroughs,such as flight or the Internet,obviously transform human abilities;facial recognition seems merely to encode them.Although faces are special to individuals,th

    5、ey are also public,so technology does not,at first sight,interrupt something that is private.And yet the ability to record,store and analyse images of faces cheaply,quickly and on a vast scale promises one day to bring about fundamental changes to ideas of privacy,fairness and trust.The face is not

    11、ult to live without social media,and he didnt think about it much during the six years.As a 12-year-old,Sivert said he wasnt using social media much anyway.The only app he had prior to the bet was Snapchatwhich he deleted a day after trying it out.“I wouldnt say there was ever a time when I thought

    12、I was about to break,” he said.“As it went on,it was more of a pride thing.” He also had his friends to keep him up to date on the latest information or trends.“I got to avoid all the unnecessary drama that was on there,” Sivert added.Lorna said she never had to check for any sneakily downloaded app

    13、s.“Hes so competitive,and it was definitely more for proving a point,” she said.It also meant he had more time to focus on his grades and sports instead,Sivert told the reporter.Now $1,800 richer,Sivert told CNN he hasnt thought about what to buy (when he was 12,he joked hed get a house),but itll li

    19、popular,conflicting opinions have arisen on whether they can work as successfully as they are intended.Dr.April Chambers from the University of Pittsburgh worked with teammates to gather data from 3 studies and published a review article listing present information on the benefits of SSDs.“There has

    20、 been a great deal of scientific research about sit-stand desks in the past few years,but we have only scratched the surface of this topic,” said Chambers.“I want to gather what weve known so far to figure out how we can use these desks to better benefit people in the workplace.”This work was done w

    21、ith Dr.Nancy A.Baker from Tufts University.The review examines the effects of a sit-stand desk in the following aspects:behavior,physiological(生理的),work performance,psychological,discomfort,and posture.Their work showed that using an SSD effectively got participants to sit less and stand more and th

    22、at the device made users more comfortable at work.However,many frustrations (沮丧) with SSDs came from the physiological outcomes.According to the review,physiological effects were the most studied,but there were no significant results with regards to fatness.There are many considerations about using

    23、an SSD most effectively,such as desk height,monitor height,and the amount of time to stand.Chambers believes that the overall arrangement of the workplace or study place and the amount of work are two factors that should be further studied.Chambers noted that present research is limited because many
