They were brought to the island, and have been living alongside the native chickens ever since. So when the domestic chickens tha
20、t escaped their cages wound up in the wild, they didnt only breed among themselves, they bred with the wild chickens as well. Like all the birds of Hawaii, the chicken is protected as an important part of nature, and since not a lot of people can tell the difference between the native chicken and th
21、e domestic chicken, people usually avoid harming the chickens. Thats one of the reasons why the birds feel at home everywhere on Kauai Island, they dont have any natural predators, and people rarely lay a hand on them.The wild chickens have become an essential part of the Kauai experience.
